Our Mission

Borinquen Dance Theatre provides cultural opportunities to explore and celebrate intersectional Puerto Rican heritage through dance and the performing arts in greater Rochester and beyond. We cultivate high academic expectations through disciplined dance training, cultural enrichment, a strong work ethic, and leadership development.

CLASSES

Welcome to Borinquen Dance Theatre's classes! We celebrate Latin culture through various dance styles, including Caribbean and Modern Latin dance. Join our classes for ages 5-13, and the Senior Performing Arts Group for ages 14+. Experience the energy of Latin dance!

OUR STORY

Borinquen Dance Theatre was born in 1981 at the Puerto Rican Festival of Rochester, NY. Garth Fagan spontaneously announced that his former dancer, Nydia Padilla-Rodríguez, would soon be offering dance classes. Nydia did not back away from the challenge...
