Borinquen was founded in 1981 and is known for its unique blend of Puerto Rican Folkloric and Latin contemporary style. Borinquen Dance Theatre has performed throughout the United States and Canada delighting audiences from Michigan to Kentucky, at festivals in New York City to Niagara Falls and venues such as the International Hispanic World’s Fair.

Borinquen Dance Theatre helps youth build the desire to succeed through the discipline of dance. Borinquen Dance Theatre provides at-risk Hispanic and other youth in the Rochester region with cultural opportunities that broaden their educational, artistic, career and personal horizons. We position youth for success by fostering in them to embrace a dedicated work ethic and sense of personal discipline to master intricate dance movement, the desire to succeed in school, and to make good decisions about health, wellness, and relationships. Students express their confidence and joy of accomplishment through the performance of Puerto Rican folkloric and Latin contemporary dance.
